If you are a mother, you understand the moment by moment changes and unexpected moods! One minute they are laughing and the next minute they are on the floor in a hot tempered mess of tears and screaming. They need our love and support and they need oils! Here are some ways we can use essential oils for children:
Essential oils should typically be diluted for children, 1 drop to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil is a good rule
* For Balance – The grounding blend aka The Tantrum killer. It always turns a grumpy attitude around. This is our go-to oil for any type of bad attitude (for any age!)
* Frankincense – AKA “baby Jesus oil” for calming, bumps and booboos. Children toddle which means they fall. It calms booboos but also their scared little hearts. When in doubt about what oil to use – use Frankincense!
* “Soothing or Owie spray”– Equal parts Lavender, Melaleuca and Frankincense in spray bottle with Fractionated Coconut oil (FCO) and water. You can also make this in a roller bottle with FCO. This is a favorite on our team and kids love it too! Perfect for post sun spray, bites, bruises, cuts, you name it! For Fun: Let them decorate their own roller bottles and spray bottles with stickers
*Be On Guard – Diffuse this protection blend before and after play dates, preschool, church, etc to strengthen the immune system and cleanse the air.
* Lemon – Gets off all the gunky messes like sticker residue, gum in the hair, temporary tattoos and even marker off of some surfaces.
* Peaceful blend recipe (diluted) – 6 drops Vetiver, 3 drops Ylang Ylang, 2 drops Frankincense, 1 drop Clary Sage, 1 drop Marjoram in a 10mL roller, fill remainder with FCO (fractionated coconut oil).
* Sleepy oils – Lavender, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Juniper Berry, Serenity. If your child suffers with nightmares Juniper Berry may help.
*Lavender & Melaleuca – Great for a bath. Cleanse, calm and relax them at the same time.
*Be In Tune – This is a great focus blend for the very energetic child who is very busy and can’t focus on any task. This is of course very normal for busy children but some kids need some extra support to calm down at appropriate times.
* Digestive Blend or Lavender + Orange – For occasional digestive soothing and support. Children can eat weird things or go days without eating much and sometimes this leads to discomfort. Apply in a clockwise direction on belly.
* Simply Purify – Apply purification blend undiluted to splinters or ingrown toe nails to help it work its way out. Also very soothing for bug bites!
* Shield Them– with our repellant blend to keep those bugs away in the summer! I love this oil and wear it all the time just because it smells good. If you child has a fear of bugs, diffuse this oil to help keep the bugs away and feel more at ease! Peppermint and Cedarwood are other great options.
